Maryville is located in a rural farming community  and has an agricultural and forest management history. A number of local businesses have evolved which provide recreational and service opportunities for this bedroom community to the larger Knoxville area. The Great Smoky Mountain National Park is a short drive for hiking, kayaking, camping and backpacking adventures. Several rivers and large man-made reservoirs along the Tennessee River provide both cold-water; rainbow trout, walleye, and small mouth bass; and warm-water fishing and boating.

Maryville College and the Clayton Center for the Arts provides a cultural backdrop for a good balance of theater, dance and of course good ole’ country music. The Maryville area has plenty of WOW factor from Dollywood theme parks to the internationally famous “Tail of the Dragon” sports car and motorcycle touring destination.
